William Golding

English novelist, poet and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1983.

During World War II Golding, a teacher of English and philosophy, served in the Royal Navy and was involved in the sinking of Germany's mightiest battleship, the Bismarck. He participated in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day and at the end of the war went back to teaching and writing.

Golding wrote a number of novels but is most famous for his first, now a classic of English literature, Lord of the Flies (1954), made into a film in 1963.

This is a very fine hardback first edition copy of his 1984 novel The Paper Men (Faber & Faber Limited), boldly signed in blue ink on the main title page. In very good condition. The book comes with its dustwrapper, which is also in very good condition.
