Outstanding British actress, for many years the wife of Laurence Olivier.

Leigh’s films include Fire Over England (1936), Dark Journey (1937), A Yank at Oxford (1938), Waterloo Bridge (1940), Lady Hamilton (1941), Caesar and Cleopatra (1945) and Anna Karenina (1948).

She won two Oscars – for the immortal Gone With The Wind (as Scarlett O’Hara, 1939) and for A Streetcar Named Desire (as Blanche Dubois, 1951).

This is a fine programme for her 1953 performance in Terence Rattigan's play The Sleeping Prince at the Phoenix Theatre in London. The inner cast page has been been signed in ink by Vivien Leigh, Laurence Oliver (who acted in and directed the production), the great Martita Hunt (who played the Grand Duchess) and Jeremy Spenser. The programme is affected by very light staining at the bottom of each page but the effect isn't at all gross and the signatures are not affected by it. Overall condition is good.
