British actor and songwriter who became a major star of the music halls from the 1890’s singing Cockney songs.Chevalier was a straight actor for 14 years (first appearing with the Bancrofts) before he stepped on to a music hall stage. He is most famous for his songs My Old Dutch and Knocked ‘em In The Old Kent Road.
This is a very fine early Rotary sepia postcard, nicely signed across a clear area of the image in black fountain pen ink. In very good condition.
