Hugely popular Edinburgh-born music hall entertainer.

Lauder made his name as a singer of Scottish songs, many of which he wrote himself, including Roamin’ in the Gloamin’. His fame extended far beyond Britain – he toured America and the Commonwealth extensively from 1909.

Lauder was knighted in 1919 for his work in organising entertainment for the troops in the Great War.

This is a very fine signature and self-caricature in dark blue fountain ink on a vintage album page (4" x 3.5"). There's a very small, light, half-inch "crinkle" in the left side of the page, barely perceptible and well clear of the signature and caricature; otherwise in very good condition. The signature was apparently obtained at the famous Victoria Palace in London in February 1926.
