Best-selling English author, famous for her vast output of
popular romance novels.
Cartland also became a major media personality,
appearing often at public events and on television, dressed in her trademark
pink and discoursing on love, health and social issues. Other than her
fictional romance books, she also wrote health and cookery books (in total, 723
books), and stage plays and recorded an album of love songs. Cartland was often
billed as the Queen of Romance.
This is a very fine Benham's First Day Cover, commemorating Famous Authors and franked George Eliot Centenary, 9th July 1980. There's a strong signature in Cartland's trademark red-pink ink across the main panel. In very good condition.
