Slim, blonde, American dancing sensation.
Vera-Ellen began dancing at the age of 10 and a few years later became one of the youngest Rockettes. She appeared in a number of Broadway musicals before being discovered by Sam Goldwyn in 1945 and leaping to stardom the same year in her first film opposite Danny Kaye, Wonder Man.
Other film credits include Three Little Girls in Blue (1946), On The Town (dancing with Gene Kelly, 1949), Three Little Words (dancing with Fred Astaire, 1950), Call Me Madam (1953) and White Christmas (1954).
Vera-Ellen retired early for show business in the late 1950’s.
Her private life was sad – her only child, by her second husband, died of cot death.
