Hugely influential Scottish skiffle singer.

Donegan first headed a small band playing US blues and work songs, generically dubbed “skiffle” back in 1952. He enjoyed his first hit in 1956 with Rock Island Line which went into the Top 10 both sides of the Atlantic.

A succession of hits followed, including Don’t You Rock Me, Daddy-O, Camberland Gap, Puttin’ On The Style, Jack O’Diamonds, Grand Coolie Dam, Tom Dooley, My Old Man’s A Dustman, Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Favour and Have a Drink on Me.

Donegan’s last hit was Pick A Bale of Cotton (September 1962).

This is a fine vintage black and white Pye-Nixa publicity photograph (5.5" x 3.5"), probably from around 1956 (it's publicising his Lost John/Screwball record). There's a good signature across the image. In good condition.
