Great British organist.

The son of a craftsman in the local Sheffield steel industry, as a teenager Dixon played the organ in a Methodist church and provided the accompaniment for silent films. In 1930 he accepted the position of resident organist at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, and stayed there - except for a spell in the RAF during World War II - for 40 years, until his retirement. Heralded by his much-loved signature tune Oh, I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside, he came to be known as "Mr. Blackpool", and was almost as famous as the Tower itself.

This is a very fine black and white postcard, nicely signed across the image in blue fountain pen ink. In very good condition.
