A fine typed and signed letter on headed BBC notepaper (20th October, 1969) , in his capacity as Director of Television Programmes, to a man who has suggested that travelogues would be improved  by cutting out commentary and interviews. He replies that such programes "would become fairly unattractive after only a few minutes, We have, of course, some experience of what this would be like because, in the making of other programmes, we have screen footage in exactly the same condition that you describe".

With the photograph is a 2-page covering letter ("c/o Warwick Films, 3 Audley Square, London W1, 14/1/61"), handwritten in blue ink. She tells the fan that she has been filming "Carolina" (sic) for 5 months in Yugoslavia and is about to leave for South Africa to film The Hellions, with Richard Todd and Marty Wilde.

Baird, Dorothea British actress, most famous for creating the role of Trilby in Herbert Beerbohm Tree's production of Svengali in 1895, and for creating the role of Mrs Darling in the premiere of Peter Pan in 1904.
An excellent signature in blue fountain pen ink (signing in her married name of Dorothea Baird Irving) on a 4.5" x 2.5" slip of paper. Baird has added the date, January 3rd 1905 (the premiere of Peter Pan was at the Duke of York's Theatre in London on the 27th December 1904, so Baird would have signed while she was still playing Mrs Darling.)
