Frederick, Lynne   (1954-1994)
Frederick, Lynne Lovely "English Rose" actress, remembered as the last wife of Peter Sellers, and for her untimely death at the age of just 39 of alcoholism.
A very fine typed letter on mottled headed paper (c/o 21 Pembroke Place, London W8, 25th September 1980) to Tom Eggerdon, the Chief Barker of the Variety Club of Great Britain.
Frederick apologises for the delay in replying to his letter, saying that "my life has been very confused since Peter's death". She goes on to say "I am most touched and grateful for the things you say in your letter, please accept my sincere thanks and pass them on to the members of the Variety Club". She signs, as Lynne Sellers, in black ink.

Garrick, David   (1717-1779)
Garrick, David Great British actor, theatre-manager and playwright, who revolutionised acting and the English stage in the 18th Century; a close friend of Dr Johnson.
Five lines of David Garrick's handwriting in ink, on an irregularly cut piece measuring 7" x 2.75" (at its largest), laid down in Victorian times to a larger 7" x 4.25" piece. The original collector has added a note in ink ("The above is David Garrick's autograph* 10 August 1753").
* In Victorian times , any handwriting was regarded as the "autograph" of a person; the name itself was the "signature". Specimens of handwriting were collected as avidly as the signature.
