Blake, Quentin British artist and illustrator, especially of children’s books (he is probably most famous for his illustrations for Roald Dahl books).
A very fine self-illustrated printed colour artcard (5.5" x 4.25") showing the artist being buried in correspondence, with a neat signature in black ink across the image. To the reverse is a printed message, thanking the writer for his letter but apologising for the lack of a personal reply due to the sheer volume of mail he gets. He assures the fan that the signature on the front is genuine and not printed.

A very fine colour postcard showing Briggs' Father Christmas, out of his red robe and plunging into a loch (the title on the reverse is Bonny Bonny Freezin' Scotland). There's an excellent signature and date (2002) in blue ink to the reverse.

An interesting document - a list, handwritten in ink, of seven of his paintings, with their owners (No.1 "Mary Queen of Scots and Darnley at Jedburgh". Proprietor - Angus Holdern Esq, Woodlands, Bradford) to Philip Cunliffe-Owen, October 16th 1877. This may have been in connection with the Paris 1878 Exposition Universelle which Cunliffe-Owen was organising. There's a good signature at the conclusion of the list.

John, Augustus Great larger-than-life Welsh artist, a towering archetype of the bohemian artist as well as being the top portrait painter of his generation.
An extraordinary survival - Augustus John has clearly been accosted by a fan and responds by giving him a invitation to a private viewing of his pictures, handwritten in bold black pencil on the only paper available, the back of a 1923 Telegraph Form ( "Please admit Mr Anthony Symons to private viewing, Augustus John"). RARE.

An extraordinary 1-page letter (Royal Academy, Wednesday, September 8th, 1819), handwritten in ink (probably by a secretary) and signed by John Yenn, to the architect Joseph Woods. It lists six Royal Academicians who might accompany him to the Custom House the following week, including the great English landscape painter J.M.W.Turner and architect John Soane, together with John Flaxman, Francis Chantry, John Jackson and Charles Rossi!
