A fine letter, handwritten and signed in black ink, on a sheet of notepaper (126 Inverness Terrace, W2, 1st December, 1920) to Dear Payse.
Beresford invites him to come to dinner on the 9th at 7.45 and mentions the other guests who will be present ("Collins is coming, the Ervines, Rose Macauley and May Sinclair").

Beresford VC, Lord William   (1847-1900)
Beresford VC, Lord William Irish-born soldier who was awarded the Victoria Cross for valour in the Zulu War of 1879.
A bold signature in black ink, on a 5" x 4" piece cut from a letter. The letter was to a member of the Royal Navy, in command of HMS Lapwing, a Redbreast class gunboat at Calcutta, so was clearly from Beresford's later career on the staff of the Viceroy of India. The letter was sent post-1889, the year of HMS Lapwing's commissioning. VERY RARE.

A superb vintage sepia photograph (8" x 10"), showing Bergen and Charlie McArthy as elegant "toffs", nicely signed and inscribed ("Best wishes to Pat & Mary from Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy") in blue fountain pen ink across the image.
The signature was obtained in July 1948 when Bergen was appearing at the London Palladium.
