Great South African-born comedy actor. A very fine dinner menu (12" x 8.5") for a Gala Evening of the Lord's Taverners, held in Nottingham on the 7th April, 1976. On an inner page detailing the evening's entertainment there's a section for autographs, and there's a good signature and inscription ("Cheers Joy! Sidney James") in dark blue ink across the page. This item was signed during Sid James' tour of the farce The Mating Season and just 19 days later, at the Sunderland Empire the actor collapsed on the stage after a massive heart attack and died an hour or so later.
