Mayall, Rik   (1958-2014)
Mayall, Rik British comedy actor and writer.
A rarity - a 8" x 12" colour photograph, taken by the great photographer, Larry Ellis, of the extraordinary poster for the 1995 Rik Mayall/Stephen Fry play, Cell Mates, outside the Albery Theatre in London. This is a play that Fry notoriously abandoned after just three performances, fleeing to Belgium after a bad review in the Financial Times, so clearly the poster wasn't up for very long!
Rik Mayall (who soldiered on in the production with an understudy, and then Simon Ward, until it came off, just over a month later) has added a fine signature in black ink across his image. (Larry Ellis has added his stamp to the reverse of the photograph).
